With a very strong performance, Nikola Jokic led the Denver Nuggets to their second win in the National Basketball Association (NBA) finals series against the Miami Heat. At 109:94 in Florida on Wednesday, the Serb had a triple double from 32 points, 21 rebounds and 10 assists, giving the Nuggets a victory that was no longer in danger in the second half. Denver took a 2-1 lead in the best of seven series.
Never before has there been such a haul from a player in a game of the NBA Finals. “Nothing Nikola does surprises me. He has shown again and again that he is made for these moments. He thrives in those moments, on the biggest stage, and he did that again tonight,” said coach Michael Malone.
When asked what that means to him, Jokic said on US television. “Honestly not much. I’m just glad we won a game. We just didn’t want to be 2-1 behind. We have to win the next one, that will remain our attitude and that’s how we’ll reach our goal,” said Jokic. The Nuggets need two more wins to secure their first championship title in history. The next game will be back in Miami on Saturday night.
