TURIN. Andrea Pirlo’s longest night begins with Valeri’s final whistle, to sanction an unprecedented 0-3 against a Milan that had always lost at the Stadium in the league, and ends between stadium and home to reflect on the mistakes of a failed season. After the defeat there was a meeting with the managers, but the coach will not resign and wants to continue his adventure. «I have undertaken this job with so much enthusiasm and so many difficulties – says Pirlo – but my work goes on and I am available: I work in a great club and I think I can do better, to be able to get out of it with the team. Now it is a difficult moment, but we have to look ahead: there are still three games left, so I will continue to do my job as long as I am allowed ».
The president Agnelli, the vice president Nedved and the sports director Paratici do not speak publicly after the game. Today will be a long day at Continassa, while Pirlo will have to deal with a poor ranking (now Juve are fifth and behind in the direct clashes against Milan, Naples and Atalanta) and the rumors of an exemption. I have always had great availability from the players and I have always tried to do the best: if these things have happened, it means that I have not been able to pass it on. It was an important experience, indeed it is important, and I am moving forward in my work ».
The use of the past seems a clue to a destiny already sealed, but Pirlo defends his position and thinks of Wednesday night’s match in Reggio Emilia against Sassuolo. «The path is getting complicated now and it no longer depends on us – analyzes the Juventus coach -: we need to work on our heads and do well in these last three days. I certainly had a different project in mind and I thought I had a different team available, so I tried to work on certain principles. Sometimes it went well, sometimes it went badly, then based on all the things that happened I also had to adapt and so maybe a well-defined plan was never seen again.
