Lanzara, desire to leave again after the great fear – Sport

by admin

The emergency situation relating to the infections from Covid-19 in the Genea Lanzara home, the Salerno handball company which this season is involved in the A2 men’s national handball championship, has returned. Over a month of absence from official competitions and training at PalaPalumbo for coach Manojlovic and team, forced absence after the cold shower that attested to the Coronavirus positivity of over 80% of the group. Nine athletes and two managers and the inability to work and continue the good work started in this difficult 2020, for a championship start that saw the team of patron Domenico Sica clinging to the top positions of the standings and conquering 7 consecutive victories in the first seven rounds of the season, with the first defeat coming on championship day number 8, against the highly titled Noci. It was last January 30th and the Handball Lanzara went down, for the last time before the long stop, on the 40×20 of the Apulian opponent. “When we stopped we were in a state of grace from the physical point of view and the results. At Noci we had a good start, for the first 15 minutes the match was very balanced but, during the match in progress, we recorded a significant physical decline – explains Nikola Manojlovic -. Probably, despite the negative results of the swabs before leaving for the away match, the boys on the field were starting to experience the first symptoms ».
So, stop for the entire month of February and inevitably matches to be postponed, 3 to be exact: the last of the first round would have been the expected derby against Benevento scheduled for last February 6 and then those against Messina and Il Giovinetto, respectively on 20 and 27 February to open the second phase of the championship. In addition to the postponed matches, there is, for the athletes of the Salerno team, also and above all the physical form: «We practically all met again, the boys have recovered quite well – says coach Manojlovic -. It is obvious that there will be changes as regards the way of playing, because after such a long break due to a health issue there will inevitably be conditioning ».
The restart is almost upon us, first with the Under 19s and then with the first team, which will restart from the 14 points of the standings (in fact partial, until all the matches are recovered), an excellent booty for a newly promoted in A2, and from the good results shown in the field until before the stop last month. Swabs and indications from physiotherapists and trainers will mark the six days that from now to next Saturday 20 March will lead the athletes back to a championship which has now entered its hottest phase. He will recover from the away match against Palermo: «It will not be easy because Palermo are a good team and have done very well in the last few performances – declares Manojlovic -. We have days in which to continue working, days that will be useful to understand that we will not be able to return to play with the very high rhythms we had before this forced break. Certainly the boys will not be able to be pushed to the maximum and it will be necessary, precisely for this reason, to use more players and to make each play less time. The goal was salvation and to grow this group of young boys who must mature on the playing field and on the physical level. So the project starts like this. On the contrary, it goes on ».
