Lecce returns to Serie A by beating a good Pordenone

LECCE. The party explodes in Via del Mare. In front of almost 30 thousand spectators, including about twenty diehard black-green fans (such as Deputy Mayor Emanuele Loperfido, in the photo with the scarf in his hands), and above all in front of a team that even last in the standings played with heart and generosity, Lecce wins the long-awaited promotion to Serie A after two years of limbo in B. The spin between the Giallorossi and Pordenone ends 1-0, which does not look bad and in the end applauds the company of the Salentines, promoted directly together with Cremonese, victorious 2-1 in Como. Nothing to do, however, for Monza, which falls by measure (1-0) on the field of Perugia and is reached in third place by Pisa, who scored (2-1) in Frosinone.

Incredible reversal in the queue: to relegate directly – due to the direct clashes against – together with the green lizards and the Crotone is the Alexandria, which seemed certain at least of the play-outs and instead sensationally loses the direct clash with Vicenza 1-0 at home, who earns the play-offs salvation after an unexpected comeback: he will play against Cosenza, always winning 1-0 on the home rectangle against the Citadel.

As announced by Tedino in the pre-match press conference, some news on the pitch in Pordenone, starting with the goalkeeper Fasolino, on his debut, who “sent” Perisan and Bindi to the bench. The team is, however, anything but resigned, both in the field and for the competitive spirit it puts into it. Zammarini, Torrasi and Lovisa are almost a starting midfield, as well as the offensive trio with Cambiaghi, Butic and Candellone.

Lecce starts off strong, as expected and on the 5th minute Fasolino has to make his first intervention to neutralize a powerful conclusion from Coda. The neroverdi certainly aren’t watching, they try it shortly afterwards with Butic, high ball. Still Fasolino at 9 ‘says no to a shot from the edge of Strefezza with the help of the post. The Salento people push, but do not find large spaces. At 18 ‘Di Mariano tries to do everything by himself, serpentine in the area, busted shot. A few minutes later Fasolino was still the protagonist, a really nice surprise, which took a blow from the edge of Majer from the corner.

Upon returning from the locker rooms, however, also hearing the news coming from Como with Cremonese ahead, Lecce goes wild, immediately finding the goal of the advantage and shortly after the doubling. The goal is signed by Majer, who forgives the mistakes of the first half with a perfect insertion on a cross from Gargiulo and a precise header to pierce Fasolino. The advantage did not satisfy the hosts, who nearly doubled twice with Coda, once with Di Mariano and Pordenone seemed on the ropes, but did not give up.

The bomber Coda fails to break free even on 23 ‘, when he takes advantage of a short postponement by Fasolino. The lizards hold up well in the field, with dignity and concentration, but do not sink the blow. Lecce are looking for the second goal, but be careful not to reveal themselves to avoid bitter surprises.
