Six athletes from the Libertas Ivrea company were involved in the regional championships held in Turin on 24 and 25 April, the culmination of the winter season. Simone Spediacci (born in 2004) took home three victories (400 medley, 200 butterfly and 100 backstroke) and a silver medal in the 200 medley, confirming himself as a national hope. Enrico Oggeri(born in 2003) has imposed himself in the 400 medley, while he is silver in the 200 medley and in the 50 breaststroke. Stefano Linty, another blue promise (born in 2005) climbed to the top step of the podium in the 200 butterfly, place of honor on the 200 freestyle and on the 100 butterfly, bronze on the 50 freestyle. The very young Viola Fuscà (born in 2008), on his debut in the major categories, is silver in the 400 medley and bronze in the 200 butterfly. Also in the race Lorenzo Mosso in the 50 freestyle and in the 100 breaststroke e Valeria Formia in the 50 freestyle, returning after a long stop. The technicians Pietro Bottino and Beppe Nodari are satisfied: «Despite the enormous difficulties, the boys managed to obtain excellent results. We have to thank the Massimo Rivetti swimming pool in Biella and the company “In sport red frogs” who allowed us to train during the most difficult months of the pandemic. A huge credit also goes to the families who have organized themselves to take the boys to swim every day in Biella ». And here a note of controversy opens because little or nothing has been done to facilitate the training of athletes in Ivrea, which has a sporting heritage but does not create the necessary conditions to manage it. «We don’t want to argue too much – say the technicians – but these kids, with their commitment and sacrifice, are an example and stimulate children to play sport. We expected more attention and consideration from our city ». –
