(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 15 – Thousands of Barcelona fans filled the streets of the city to watch the parade of the two Blaugrana football teams that won the men’s and women’s championships. Yesterday the team led by Xavi Hernandez beat Espanyol by winning their 27th La Liga title, the first since 2019, while the women’s team had already achieved their fourth victory in a row for a few weeks.
Players and staff were carried in triumph on two open-top buses, heading between two wings of cheering crowds from the Camp Nou to the Arc de Triomf monument. Everyone wore T-shirts that read “the championship is ours, and so is the future”. For the team led by Alexia Putellas the season is not over, because there is the commitment of the Champions League final, a tournament from which the male colleagues have been excluded in advance.
Many fans, among the various chants and banners, also praised Lionel Messi, in the hope that the club can bring him “home” at the end of his contract with PSG, tickled by what the president, Joan Laporta said this morning, who promised that she would “go to any lengths” to sign him. (HANDLE).
