by admin

The world of rugby and Argentina are in mourning. Lucas Pierazzoli, a Hurling Club player, died after being involved in a game fight during a scrum. The tragedy took place on Saturday 2 October, during the match between Sitas and Hurling, valid for the ninth day of Primera B, the second Argentine rugby division. Pierazzoli, who was 28 and playing in the role of prop, was immediately rescued by the doctors of both teams, but there was nothing for him to do. The vertebral fractures reported were too serious: the spinal cord appeared immediately compromised, so much so that it was immediately necessary to proceed with ventilation. The situation appeared desperate right from the start, so much so that the company in a tweet had asked to pray for the athlete’s fate.

After a first cardiac arrest Pierazzoli was resuscitated after more than 40 minutes, and transferred to the Posadas hospital, where the doctors, however, found his brain death.

. The Argentine Rugby Federation has spread a message of condolence: “The Argentina Rugby Union says goodbye with deep sorrow to Lucas Pierazzoli, the Hurling player,” said the Argentine Rugby Federation in a note of condolence, “Our institution accompanies family, friends and loved ones in this sad time. We remember Lucas in the same way as those who had the good fortune to know him: as a lover of rugby who enjoyed practicing this sport every day, recognized on and off the pitch, both by his teammates and by his opponents ” .

It is not the first time that serious accidents, even fatal ones, have occurred in rugby: in 2018, in Aurillac, the center Louis Fajfrowski, 21, died in the locker room following three cardiac arrests, an hour and a half after being chest plated. Also in 2018 Adrien, a 17-year-old extreme from the under 19 of the Billom, was found dead on his bed, the day after feeling ill from a tackle. Also in July 2018, the captain of the Welsh national team and the Lions, Sam Warburton, had to hang up his boots after yet another serious injury: “It’s like suffering a car accident at a hundred per hour”.
