18 days before the start of the championship, the orange suddenly turn around: “We ask to return to Excellence”
MANZANO. The Serie D championship begins on 19 September and the Manzanese will not be at the starting line. A sensational decision that arises from the choice of the orange club to program the corporate management in a different way and to try to restart from the Excellence in the 2021-2022 season.
A bolt from the blue: on July 26, in fact, the Manzanese received the communication from Covisod (the economic-financial control body of amateur clubs), of registration, given that the investigation relating to the request to participate in the series championship D sent by the company had given a positive result. In a note, the company motivates the decision of this very painful choice. «We believe that in order to advance a football club, the best choices must be made and those that best guarantee its future and if these choices involve taking a step back, it is right to make them. Other clubs have also followed this path, despite having all the conditions to be able to participate in a championship of a higher category ». Programming, even if the rumors speak of difficulties in covering the budget.
Now, however, the company is evaluating the possibility of enrolling in the regional championship of Excellence. The first step is to retire from the Serie D championship, which should be completed within the day. The company will then make an application to the Regional Committee of the FIGC to participate in the Excellence. At this point the regional federation will have to wait for the opinion of the National League. The admission of the Manzanese will then be assessed during the executive council of the regional FIGC scheduled for Tuesday.
The regional president of the FIGC Ermes Canciani intervenes on the sudden decisions taken by the Manzanese. “These are situations that can happen in football – underlines Canciani. – And now the important thing is to start again with the awareness of having made the right choices. I know that the procedures have been started to try to enroll the Manzanese in the championship of excellence. We wait for what the National League will say, then in the upcoming regional council of our board we will examine the admission proposal. I know that President Fabbro cares a lot about Manzanese and has his future at heart ».
The 2021-2022 season of the Excellence provides for the dispute of two groups. The Manzanese could be included in group B which includes the teams from Trieste, Gorizia and Friuli. The Manzanese leaves the D series after only one season of stay ended with the third place finish (best placement in its history) and the achievement of the promotion play-offs. On the day of the presentation of the new Manzanese coach Gianpietro Zecchin, the mayor of Manzano Piero Furlani was also present. Asked about the situation that has arisen, the mayor has not made any statement on the matter, waiting for more precise information than what has happened in the last few hours within Manzanese football.
