Milano – Flames in a top floor apartment of a building in via Cesare Correnti, in the center of Milan. Moments of great fear per three people stuck on the roof of the building after escaping from the flames. The three people were recovered by the fire brigade from Sap, the speleo-alpine fluvial core, with a very delicate intervention. The rescue it was indeed particularly complex because the fire trucks had to pay attention to electric wires of the tram lines.

After a couple of hours of work the flames were put out by the firefighters and the residents of the building all evacuated. In all, four people intoxicated by smoke and transported in green code to the hospital: an elderly woman who ended up at San Giuseppe and the three – two women and a man – were stranded on the roofs and then rescued.

On the spot to tame the fire, which broke out around 8 pm, several firefighters’ vehicles. Also present were carabinieri, 118 and local police, which blocked a part of the Corso di Porta Ticinese. Numerous passers-by stopped in the street to watch, while the smoke continued to come out from the windows of the top floor.

“They rang me on the intercom around 8.15pm, saying we had to go out. There was smoke and stench on the stairs,” says a resident on the first floor. A friend, who lives in the attics above the burnt-out apartment, warned her too. “I smelled the stench of smoke and got dressed quickly. As soon as I opened the door, I thought that the house opposite, who are away, was on fire. Instead the fire is in the apartment below, where a ‘old woman’, says the lady, who follows the rescue operations from the street, apprehensive about the fate of her apartment.
