Monica Boggioni ready for her debut at the World Championships “Punto a due medaglie”

The champion from Pavia starts with the 50 style and the 100 breaststroke “In Madeira the goal is the podiums in the 100 and 200 style”

Pavia

Olympian Monica Boggioni will be in the water today with the body of the Italian national team at the Paralympic World Swimming Championships scheduled on the Portuguese island of Madeira. «I arrived on Friday evening, aiming for the podium in the 100 and 200 style – explains the 23 year old swimmer from Pavia of the Fiamme Oro and Pavia Nuoto – the world championships will end on Saturday 18 June. They will be played in the Funchal swimming pool, where in May last year we competed in the European Championships before flying to Tokyo for the Paralympics. I know this facility well, in which I have always swam well. I’m happy to be here, because after the emotions I felt at the Games, I started working again with new goals and new challenges, starting to look to Paris 2024 ».

Doubtful relays

Boggioni will swim today in the 50 style category S5 and in the 100 breaststroke category Sb4. Tomorrow he will be in the water in the 50 S5 backstrokes, while Tuesday will be a rest day. Then he will return to compete on Wednesday in the Sm5 mixed 200, then the second day of rest, while on Friday he will swim in the 200 S5 style to finish Saturday with the 100 S5 style. «I am concentrated on the races – explains Boggioni – I worked with my coach Gui to better prepare for this world championship. I want to get back in the game and enjoy the experience. Relays? The blue technical commissioner will evaluate and communicate to us day by day your choices about who will swim them. I could play the 4×100 style relay and the mixed 4×100, but I don’t think about it, for now I’m betting everything on individual races, which are the only certainties I have ».
