More snow is expected, Sunday’s games are also at risk

by admin

The unknown bad weather remains after the stop to the scheduled shift at the Immaculate Club, which is required to guarantee the practicability of the fields within 48 hours prior to the competitions.

PAVIA

After the postponement of the Excellence and Promotion matches scheduled for the midweek round of the Immaculate Conception (also skip the Lombardy Cup and Women’s Promotion), the unknown bad weather hovers over Sunday’s program of provincial amateur football. Weather forecasts indicate, in fact, for this morning, another snowfall – however of low intensity – on the Lombard plains.

At the regulatory level, as regards the National Amateur League, the clubs are required to clear the snow, but not if the precipitation occurred in the 72 hours prior to the start of the match, with the exception of the clubs participating in the D, for which this deadline is reduced to 48 hours before the game. A verification and evaluation of the situation will eventually be made by the Lombardy Regional Committee (up to the First category) and by the Provincial Delegation of Pavia (for the Second and Third) both for the youth matches on Saturday and for those of the following day of the first teams.

It cannot be ruled out that for certain areas, especially hills or foothills, it is possible to opt for an official suspension of individual matches, without waiting for an inspection and decision by the referees. However, good weather is expected tomorrow and Sunday and field conditions should improve. In the First and Second category, the last day of the first leg is scheduled for the weekend, so any recoveries could be played on Sunday 19 December, thus concluding the groups before Christmas. In Excellence, Promotion and Third Category, the first leg will end on the 19th and any recoveries could most likely be played only in January. Meanwhile, the provincial delegate of the FIGC, Roberto Del Bo on Thursday suspended the Immaculate Conception for the Juniors.

La Voghe wants to play

Also in Excellence, Rhodense-Pavia and Vogherese-Sestese are scheduled for Sunday, while Varzi has asked and obtained to play away the match against Castanese.

The intent of Voghe is to clear the snow that has covered the Parisi’s ground, in order to allow the regular development of the home game. Before starting the snow removal operations, the Rossoneri however is waiting to know the evolution of the weather conditions, in light of the worsening expected for today. Meanwhile, for the training sessions, Vogherese is using the synthetic pitch of the “Al Ponte” sports center in Pontecurone, located right next to the Grassi field, which usually hosts the Rossoneri’s training sessions. In the event that Sunday’s match against Sestese is played regularly, Voghe will have to give up the midfielders Selmi, stopped for a round, and Castellano, who suffered three days of disqualification by the sports judge after being sent off in the stormy match with Calvairate. –
