Mortirolo appetizer for the people of Belluno. “We have been following the Giro for thirty years”

Some historical groups are mobilized in the week that will decide the pink race

The Giro arrives on the streets of Belluno and the fans are leaving for the big steps. indeed, someone has already left. They are the boys of the historical nucleus of the legendary Castionese group “Co Coron Fon Fin Fun”. Patrick Dal Farra, Walter Da Riz, Sandro Trojan, Lorenzo De Bona and Roberto “Bronze magician” Tornabene yesterday climbed to Mortirolo for one of the most anticipated stages of the pink race, the Salò – Aprica which, yesterday, crowned the Czech Jan Hirt.

Travel by car to Incudine, at the foot of the Brescia side of the terrible Lombard mountain discovered by the pink race in 1990 and then up to the top with the electric bike.

«A great crowd of people up here and great enthusiasm at the passage of Valverde, Nibali and Van der Poel», says Tornabene. «After the stage we will go down to Trento for the pink night and tomorrow (today for those who read, ed) we will be on the Menador, the final ascent of the Ponte di Legno – Lavarone. Then, the pink night in Belluno and the grand finale, of course, on the Marmolada on Saturday ».

«We are now close to celebrating 30 years in the Giro», adds Da Riz. «The first trip was on the Pordoi in 1993. The best stage in these three decades? Without a doubt, the 2011 Belluno-Nevegal time trial ».

Historical presence on the roads of the pink race is also that of the Amici del Giro.

«The first time was in 2005, in the stage that arrives Palafavèra», says Michele Zecchin. “That time we only took a leave from work for the afternoon, but from the following year we started taking holidays and staying away for several days. On every occasion it has always been a party, a good party. The craziest one is the pink night of Ovaro, at the foot of the Zoncolan ».

«This year we will go up to Marmolada on Thursday evening and we will try to place ourselves near Capanna Bill, at the end of the terrible straight that is the nightmare of all cyclists», explains Nicola Losego. «We will open the weekend in pink with a nice paella dinner».
