Municipalities with up to 15 thousand inhabitants
The election of the mayor and the council is contextual. Each candidate for mayor is linked to a list of candidates for city councilor. The mayoral candidate is elected who got the higher number of votes. In the event of a tie (a rather rare event), a ballot will take place between the two candidates who have obtained the highest number of votes; in the event of further equality, the most senior in age is elected. The list is assigned as many votes as those attributed to the connected candidate for auditor. 2/3 of the seats assigned to the Board are assigned to the list of the elected mayor candidate, the remaining seats are divided proportionally among the other lists. If only one list is admitted and voted, all the candidates included in the list and the candidate for connected statutory auditor are elected provided that it has received a number of valid votes of not less than 50% of the voters and the number of voters has not been lower 50% of the voters registered on the electoral roll of the municipality. If these percentages are not reached, the election is void. There is no barrier threshold for lists for the purpose of participating in the allocation of seats.
Municipalities over 15 thousand inhabitants

The allocation of seats to the municipal council is carried out after the election of the mayor, at the end of the first or second round of voting, with the assignment of the majority prize to the list or group of lists connected to the elected candidate for mayor. The lists of candidates who have obtained less than 3% of the valid votes in the first round of voting and who do not belong to any group of lists that have exceeded this threshold are not admitted to the allocation of seats. For each list or group of lists, seats are assigned proportionally. The eventual ballot will be held on June 26th.
