Nascar 2021, race 15 results: in Darlington Martin Truex wins on Toyota

Martin Truex won his third race in Darlington (30th in his career) in NASCAR 2021, in the fifteenth round of the American championship reserved for factory derivatives. Truex kept behind Kyle Larson, who in the last thirty laps had tried to recover but never worried Toyota driver Joe Gibbs Racing, now second in the standings, 75 points behind Denny Hamlin, fifth at Darlington. A rematch with interests for Truex who last September on the South Carolina oval had exited a whisker from the end after having led for 196 laps before touching up with Chase Elliott and finishing 22nd. On the podium also Kyle Bush, the only one with Truex to have won more than one race this year.

The Darlington race, in addition to the party for Truex, was also able to “toast” the return of the public to the paddock, the first time ever since March 2020, when the pandemic interrupted world sport. People had returned to the stands, albeit in small numbers, but had never been allowed into the garage area until now. Another stake has fallen on the road back to normal, a signal for America and for the whole world. There were about 16 thousand people on Sunday 9 May in Darlington, and the organizers have already announced that for the race on 5 September on this same oval they would not want to limit the entrances.

The next race of the NASCAR 2021 championship will be the Drydene 400 in Dover, Delaware, 400 laps of the International Speedway for about 645 km of race: the race is scheduled for Sunday 16 May from 8 pm Italian time (2 pm local time); in 2020 the race was won by Kevin Harvick.
