Nascar, Aric Almirola announces retirement at the end of 2022

Aric Almirola, the historic name of Nascar, will race his last season as a professional in 2022. At the base of the decision is the desire to enjoy the family.

“To be the best in this field you have to be selfish, and for the past 37 years my life has focused only on me and my work,” Almirola explained at a press conference. “Now is the time to be not the best driver but the best husband and the best father. So 2022 will be my last year on the track, I will give my all to do my best but when the season is over I will be ready to say goodbye. I have loved every minute of my career, but the time has come to open a new chapter in my life ”.

Almirola, born in Tampa (Florida, USA) from a family of Cuban origins, made his debut in Nascar in 2005 and won his first race in 2007 in the Xfinity Series, a controversial race because it was Eric who started a race then ended by his teammate Denny Hamlin. In 2012 the transition to the main series of Nascar and in 2014 the first of three triumphs in races of the series. His best finish was fifth place in 2018.
