Presented the official Serie A ball that will be used during the 2021-2022 season (also on the fields of the Italian Cup, the Italian Super Cup and the Primavera competitions). The balloon that addresses the unpredictable aspects of aerodynamics through a revolutionary design is called “Nike Flight”, it is the result of years of research by the Nike Equipment Innovation Lab on improving the stability of the flight of the balloon.
In the tests carried out by the engineers of the Lab, hundreds of professional athletes were involved who, with their indications, were fundamental to arrive at the final result. The aerodynamic technology introduced last season, Nike AerowSculpt, thanks to the grooves present on the surface of the ball, reduces oscillations and guarantees a more precise trajectory of 30%. The design also features Nike ACC (All Conditions Control) 3D ink. Introduced in 2014, ACC helps ensure optimal grip in dry and wet conditions.
In the Nike Flight ball, the ink was also used to create micro-flaps arranged along the Nike AerowSculpt design that further optimize aerodynamic stability. The new Nike Flight Serie A ball features bold graphics designed around the ball and not inserted into the panels. The base of the light blue graphics is inspired by the colors of the logo of one of the most exciting leagues in the world, Serie A. The squares improve visual perception by allowing players to read the rhythm and rotation of the ball, managing to react quickly and finding greater safety in movements. The combination of these elements creates a visually stunning look for the Nike Flight Serie A ball, enhancing AerowSculpt technology to increase stability and give the ball a more precise trajectory. The inspiration of the graphics is taken from the idea of the “Air Mail” to represent the speed and accuracy of delivery.
