One in four European clubs has shirt sponsors linked to betting, but in Italy this is not possible

23% of shirt sponsors for football clubs in Europe are betting companies. The data, reports Agipronews, emerges from “The UEFA European Club Finance and Investment Landscape”, the study that takes into account the almost 700 clubs under the control of the European federation. The betting sector therefore ranks first among the most used categories on the shirts of European clubs, maintaining this primacy even taking into account only the major leagues. In the second division leagues, however, the percentage of betting brands drops to 13%.

THE CASE OF ITALY – The situation is different for Italy, where following the dignity decree, since 2018 it has no longer been possible to enter into sponsorship agreements for betting brands in the world of sport. A topic that has always been the subject of discussion in recent months, between those who are in favor of the introduction of this ban and those who have repeatedly asked for it to be reviewed.
