The Italian Championship reserved for the Under 23s was followed on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 by the ECA, European Canoe Association Junior Slalom Cup, an international competition reserved for the Under 16 and Under 18 categories also open to the Under 14 and Under 23 categories. Classic the route starting from the “Pontetto” and arriving at the ruins of the Roman bridge for a length of 250 meters with difficulty of third and fourth degree. It was a real prologue to the next World Championships with over 250 athletes between the ages of fourteen and eighteen at the start, from all over Europe, representing eighteen nations and forty clubs, with some guests from other continents.

The Eca Slalom Junior Cup circuit includes a dozen races in Europe reserved for the youth categories, with a final classification based on the best five places. On Saturday 25th a classic international format race was held, with qualifying heats in the morning and final in the afternoon, yesterday, Sunday 26th, it was raced with the same race format but with the introduction of the new “speed slalom” course, for the first time in Italy, the new format was therefore tested: eleven doors in total, four rising for about 45 seconds in the race, a penalty point for touching the pole is foreseen. Format intended to make the slalom discipline even more spectacular and fast. At the end of the two days, the sum of the placings determined the final classification: the Ivrea athletes who won a gold with Elio Maiutto in the C1 Under 18 men, thanks to the placings on Saturday (third) and Sunday (first); silver for Carolina Massarenti in the C1 Under 23 women; Michele Pistoni thanks to a first and a second place is gold in the K1 Under 16 men, bronze for Nicola Pistoni. –
