A race in one of the most beautiful stretches of water in the province of Salerno to remember those who have linked most of their existence to swimming, only being defeated by the virus. Entertainment and emotions yesterday in the waters of the protected marine area of ​​Santa Maria Castellabate where, along the 2.4-kilometer route of the race, Endas once again triumphed in open water Palmigiano of the Blue Team and Ludovica Conte of the Real Caserta Swimming. The event promoted by the Circolo Nautino Punta Tresino and by the National Democratic Social Action Organization was also held to remember Fabio Zanolini, instructor of the Real Caserta Nuoto who died at 48 due to Covid. At the end of the race, the organizers and his teammates gave a commemorative plaque to Luca Bergamasco, winner in the category in which the instructor from Caserta usually competed.
“It is the first race, after the various difficulties caused by Covid, in Cilento and in the province of Salerno”, explains Carlo Ferraioli, National Head of Swimming Endas. “It’s nice to be able to get back into the water, see many clubs, athletes of all ages, who finally have been able to do what they love most, that is to swim.” «We are happy to have restarted with our competitions», explains Giovanni Pisciottano of the Punta Tresino Nautical Club. «We have warmed up the engines also in view of the next swimming, water polo and waterbike events that will see Castellabate play a leading role. I thank everyone who helped us in the realization of the event: our members, the various associations we collaborate with, the Agropoli Rowing Club for assistance at sea, the Castellabate Coast Guard who supervised the race with a patrol boat ».
