All in “street” in Oderzo for the Opitergium Trophy – European Road Race Under 20. Appointment tonight, in the historic center of Opitergino. At the start (6.30 pm) the best youngsters in the junior category of Italy, France, Greece, Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Sweden, who will compete – with the finish line in the central Piazza Grande – over the distance of 10 km for men and 5 km for women. Last night the last “institutional” act in the town hall in Oderzo for the final presentation of the event (organized by Nuova Atletica Tre Comuni – a company affiliated with Atl-Etica San Vendemiano – in collaboration with the Treviso Marathon) in the presence of the mayor Maria Scardellato , the president of the provincial Fidal Dino Brunello and the managers of the Nuova Atletica Tre Comuni, led by the president Francesca Ginaldi. So much waiting to see the “best youth” of Italian (and foreign) athletics in this historic summer with 5 Olympic gold medals.

Ten blues called up by the technical director of the FIDAL youth sector, Antonio Andreozzi: it is Cesare Caiani (Brugnera Friulintagli), the not yet 18 year old from Friuli, bronze medal on the 3000 steeplechase at the Under 20 European Championships in July in Tallinn; Nicolò Gallo (Atletica Alba), Riccardo Ghinassi (Imola Sacmi Avis), Moad Razgani (Bergamo 1959) and Marco Zanzottera (Sangiorgese), Aurora Bado (Free-Zone), daughter of Ornella Ferrara, bronze in the marathon at the 1995 Gothenburg World Championships ; Emma Casati (Piacenza), Silvia Gradizzi (Cus Pro Patria Milano), Arianna Reniero (Stronese) and Greta Settino (Toscana Empoli Nissan). In the last edition held, that of 2019, the Swedish Emil Magnell-Millan De La Oliva (team victory for France) and the English Jessica Mitchell (team success for Italy) triumphed, after retiring Nadia Battocletti, winner of Oderzo in 2017-2018 due to an injury. The young athletes were applauded by the winner of the 20 km Olympic walk in Tokyo, Massimo Stano, the federal president Stefano Mei and his deputy, Sergio Baldo from Treviso. The Romanian national team will be accompanied by Gabriela Szabo, world middle-distance legend (three Olympic medals, starting with Sydney 2000 gold, and seven-time world champion). The Olympian Gabriella Dorio will be part of the blue group.

The directors of European Athletics, Panagiotis Dimakos and Nadya But-Husaim will also be present in Oderzo. The international competitions will be preceded, starting at 3.30 pm, by the 2nd Massimo Tombacco Trophy, a 6×1000 relay event for the juniors, students, cadets and boys categories (6×500 instead for the beginners). In short, all that remains is to take to the streets for the show of athletics. –
