Pavia and Vigevano jostle for the high ranking places

Elachem third and 2 points ahead over Riso Scotti: the way to the playoffs Di Bella, coach from Pavia: “Let’s not waste the good things we have done so far”

PAVIA

With two days to the end of the clock phase, the ranking of Elachem Vigevano and Riso Scotti Punto Edile Pavia is not yet defined, even if both aim even higher. In theory, Pavia, arriving sixth, could play it in the playoffs with Livorno, which – in group A – is at a disadvantage in the goal difference with San Miniato, but could also finish fourth and then here is Omegna as a potential rival in the first round of the play-offs for A2.

Vigevano, on the other hand, could close third and play with one between Rimini and Faenza. Vigevano has the same points as Bernareggio and two more than Crema, who, however, must first know how the sports judge will solve the problem of the match not played between the Cremaschi, who had a Covid case, and Fiorenzuola. Elachem then faces the last away match in Crema, if he plays, and Bernareggio awaits Piacenza. Vigevano, in case of an equal points finish, is at a disadvantage having lost to Bernareggio.

Meanwhile, Pavia is watching to see if it can take advantage of these crossings to further improve its ranking. Two non-impossible matches are expected, on Sunday at home with Bologna and on 2 May in Torrenova in Sicily, against a team fighting to avoid the play outs. In short, if the first two positions of group B seem to have been assigned to Piacenza and Agrigento, from third to seventh place is still to be decided. In case of arrival on equal points, Pavia is ahead only with Bernareggio, having unfavorable goal difference with Vigevano and having lost with Crema, while he must not be caught by Cremona, who has the 2 – 0 in direct comparisons.

In group A, the one with which the teams of group B must meet in the playoffs, the current first, Livorno, has 5 more games than Chiusi, third but who practically did not play any match of the clock phase, two more of the second San Miniato.

Di Bella’s warning

«It is important not to waste what we have done so far. I hope that others are watching where we can get and not vice versa – warns Fabio Di Bella, coach of Pavia – after having conquered the field of Agrigento we still have two games and I would like to finish the job as best as possible. For this reason, I have not yet looked against who we could play the playoffs also because the situation is very fluid, with Covid looming and many games to recover ». Pavia comes from an important victory on the Agrigento field, second in the class. «It wasn’t easy to play at 4 pm – explains Di Bella – that conditioned the start of the match. We were good at preparing it together with the challenge with Sangiorgese. My parents were very attentive and focused. We knew that there was a lot to be gained at stake because winning in Agrigento was important for every player, for the team and for the standings. We had patience, the ability not to be overwhelmed by difficulties and to react. I am particularly tired because by playing you eliminate waste with sweat, on the bench is another matter. We have a long squad, everyone has the opportunity to play and they need to feel ready to join at any time. I already think of Bologna because there are two games left to finish the clock phase. The more you do well and the more you expect to do better, we will try to make the best basketball possible. We have a good physical condition, given by the intensity, rather than by the length of the training ». –
