Spanish nuances for Andrea Pietrobon’s career. In fact, in 2022, the athlete from Tai will wear the Under 23 training shirt of Eolo Kometa, the nursery of the Professional training led by Ivan Basso and Alberto Contador. Andrea, who started preparing for about twenty days, will be in Madrid over the weekend for a meeting with staff and new teammates.

The training, entrusted to the technical direction of Rafa Díaz Justo and Dario Andriotto, will be composed of seventeen athletes, with a large Italian block that includes Andrea Montoli, Davide Piganzoli, Sebastiano Minoia, Edoardo Mauro Alleva, Gabriele Raccagni, Manuel Oioli and, of course, Pietrobon. The latter, after the first months with the youth line-up, from June should go professional with the senior team, a high-quality Professional who made his debut at the Giro d’Italia last June, winning one of the stages with the Bolognese Lorenzo Fortunato most suggestive, the Citadel-Monte Zoncolan.

“We decided together for a soft approach to the new season”, explains Andrea, who in recent seasons has been one of the most interesting Under 23s in Italy, first with the Zalf Fior jersey, then with that of the Cycling team Friuli. 2021 should have consecrated it but after a very high level spring, with placements in the top ten of some of the most prestigious rankings, the light went out precisely on the occasion of the key event, the Giro d’Italia. Since June, Andrea has not found the pedal stroke of the previous months and, with a body drained of all energy, he preferred to end the season prematurely.

«Precisely due to the fact that I have not competed for many months, we decided to start in a quiet way. After all, I have to think about the future, building solid foundations, and not about the present. For the first few months he will compete a lot in Spain, doing international activity. I am delighted to join this group. I started training for about twenty days, alternating cycling with sessions in the gym. From mid-December I will have a long meeting in Spain. Compared to a couple of months ago, I am much better: I am confident of being able to show what I am worth in a short time ».

During 2021, Pietrobon took eighth place in two very classics on the international calendar, the Piva Trophy and the Giro del Belvedere, and the second at Vicenza – Bionde, at the end of a very long two-way escape with the Russian Gleb Syritsa. He also wore the blue jersey on two occasions that saw Under 23s and professionals compete together: the Grand Prix Industria & Artigianato of Larciano and the Giro dell’Appennino. Now, having left the past few months behind him, he is ready to begin a new adventure, the one that should lead him into the cycling of the great.
