After 18 consecutive seasons in Serie D, Claudio Poesio has decided to go down to Excellence, accepting the court of Varesina. The 34-year-old midfielder, who lives in Voghera with his family, leaves the Casale after two years; a choice strictly related to the corporate changes taking place in the Nerostellato club, with the departure of Lino Gaffeo, former patron of OltrepoVoghera: “In Casale, a new management group is entering and the fact that a person of great human depth as Gaffeo doesn’t stay, he pushed me to look elsewhere. I had several offers from the D series, such as Rimini, Ravenna and Sanremese, but the project that Varesina showed me, a company run by a serious family and with very clear ideas, convinced me “, explains Poesio, author of 10 networks in the last tournament of D.
The step backwards as a category is only momentary in the intentions of Poesio and Varesina: «I spoke to CEO Max Di Caro, who had been my teammate in the youth national teams. I found a solid company, which in recent years has invested a lot in structures and has an efficient organization. They are building a strong team, and they would not like to stop at promotion to D. Varesina’s project is to center the leap in the professionals within 3-4 years. For next season the goal is to win, but the right mentality and the desire to ride will be needed, technical qualities are not enough ».
Before marrying to Varesina, Poesio was contacted by Varzi: «We didn’t agree, but the grenade club made an excellent impression on me. They are doing well on the market, and I certainly consider them among the candidates to go up to D. They have taken on an excellent player like Lewandoswski who was with me at Casale, a great signing for quality and personality ». The adopted midfielder from Voghera then focuses on the separation between Casale and president Gaffeo, a person highly esteemed by the Vogherese public in his past at OltreVoghe: “Lino was a little shocked at how his experience in Casale ended .
