After a point in six days, the neroverdi are already in the position of having to win the next race at all costs
PORDENONE. From an attitude point of view, something has changed. But in terms of results not even Massimo Rastelli managed to shock Pordenone. The Campania coach, in fact, closed his first month of competitions at the helm of the neroverdi with only one draw to his credit, the one with Reggina.
The other three races he played – with Parma, Cittadella and Monza – he lost. The figure makes it clear what situation he has inherited and how deep are the problems of the team, still unable to score as at the beginning of the season: so far only one center on play has been achieved, which moreover bears the signature of a midfielder, Magnino. There is no shortage of time to correct the route, but next Sunday’s match against Vicenza of the former Diaw already looks like a salvation match.
Rastelli was called to De Marchi at the end of August, in the aftermath of the terrible knockout against Spal (5-0). We wanted to try to immediately remedy the initial mistake, that of having bet on an inexperienced coach like Massimo Paci.
The former coach from Avellino and Cagliari knew very well that he would find a team in great difficulty, however he imagined he could have a bigger impact right away. But to date, in addition to ensuring greater defensive balance and offering some tactical certainties (the definitive move to 4-3-1-2), he has failed to do. The fault is not his, miracles cannot be expected in a month and it was certainly not he who created this situation. The truth is that, if after almost thirty days of working with a new coach the group has not yet managed to win a match, it is evident that the team itself is missing something.
Rastelli must try to keep the group together and make everyone understand that by working hard you can climb the rankings. But after having given greater solidity in the non-possession phase, now the trainer is called to give further solutions in the possession phase in order to be able to send the attackers to the shot. So far Pordenone in this regard as well as seeking depth for Tsadjout and focusing on the will to go and fight on every ball from Folorunsho fails to do. Something more is needed.
In this situation the match with Vicenza, stopped at zero points after the knockout with Cremonese, is already decisive: it is played at home and with the only rival who, so far, together with Pordenone has changed their coach. Getting a positive result can give morale and, above all, make the team work with serenity during the break. It is no small feat, given the moment that the club, staff and players are going through.
