China’s National Table Tennis teams have begun their training in Busan for the upcoming World Table Tennis Championships Team Competition, with their sights set on Paris for the Olympic Games. The competition, scheduled to take place from February 16th to 25th, will see the top eight men’s and women’s teams qualify for the Olympics.

The Chinese teams, who have already secured their spots at the Paris Olympics, are using the 2024 ITTF Busan World Table Tennis Team Championship to hone their skills and gain valuable experience. Li Xun, the head coach of the national table tennis team, expressed that the main goal of the competition is to prepare for the Olympics and to accumulate experience.

The men’s team, composed of Fan Zhendong, Wang Chuqin, Ma Long, Liang Jingkun, and Lin Gaoyuan, and the women’s team, composed of Sun Yingsha, Wang Yidi, Chen Meng, Wang Manyu, and Chen Xingtong, are all set to compete for the championships. The head coaches of both the men’s and women’s teams have expressed their strong determination to fight for the championship, with their sights set on Paris.

While the Chinese men’s and women’s teams have shown superior strength in recent competitions and world rankings, they face formidable opponents from Germany and Japan. The German men’s team, led by Qiu Dang, and two veterans, Ocharov and Boll, is expected to provide strong competition. The Japanese men’s and women’s teams are also determined to secure their spots for the Paris Olympics and challenge the dominance of the Chinese teams.

In addition, South Korea is hosting the World Table Tennis Championships for the first time, with its men’s and women’s teams showcasing their strength and motivation. The Korean men’s team hopes for a strong performance, while the women’s team, led by Shin Yu-bin, aims to make an impact.
