Raid and offenses against patron Santoriello – Sport

The relegation of Cavese to Serie D was the straw that broke the camel’s back, in a football season that proved unfortunate for the Metellians from the beginning, from contagions from Covid-19 to the difficulty in composing the team they faced the first months, when the terrible February outbreak exploded. Great disappointment in the eagle environment, due to an outcome of this Serie C championship which, however, could have been averted from the start. And the team, which returned from Palermo only yesterday morning, will have to play one more match tomorrow, with Turris, and another Sunday in Cava with Avellino.
Already on Sunday evening, after the mathematical verdict of the descent among the Amateurs of the team, a certain amount of manure was found in the center of Cava de ‘Tirreni near one of the properties of President Massimiliano Santoriello, and in addition to this, offensive messages were found on the walls (also the main door of Power Tech smeared) addressed to the patron, evidently considered to be primarily responsible for the failure of the technical project. The writings have not been claimed by anyone, perhaps the author is some so-called “maverick”, but it is easy to imagine the anger that exists in Cava for relegation. The messages are only the tip of the iceberg: already during the season Santoriello had been very disputed, for not having confirmed mister Campilongo after the previous football season, and for having focused on a project based on playing time, putting aside elements of experience, some of which were sold. Not all the players taken in the summer turned out to be up to par, some mistakes made by the singles made the team lose points especially in the initial phase, and consequently the climb became very complicated. It was also said that the main difficulty of the company would have been the missed box office receipts for the Covid emergency, but then Santoriello spent to try to save the category, satisfying the requests of Campilongo, recalled after the management of Modica e Maiuri: the team was reinforced, but then the imponderable factor of Covid-19 gave up a sharp blow to Cavese’s hopes of staying in C. The team’s hopes of being able to save itself, which in February had become stronger, were undermined heavily even from the ten consecutive defeats.
According to the latest news, although the relationship between Santoriello and part of the supporters has cracked, the patron is still willing to continue to manage Cavese in the future. However, the only way the president has now to be able to change opinion of the protesters is to regain professionalism. It is not easy for this to happen through readmission, given that the team is relegated as last classified, but starting from D with a project that can then bring results is not impossible, especially if the patron will be able to rely on collaborators at the height.
