Watford has formalized the hiring of Claudio Ranieri as new coach, with a two-year contract. The Roman coach “arrives at Vicarage Road boasting extensive experience at the helm of some of the biggest European clubs, with titles won in the Premier League, the Italian Cup and the King’s Cup” recalls the English club that plays in the Premier League in making the announcement .
It is the fourth time in the Premier League for the architect of the Leicester miracle: the first with Chelsea in 2000: four very important years, with two Champions League qualifiers and a final season (2003-2004) in which he obtained second place in Premier and the semi-final of the Champions. Results that are not enough for the new patron Abramovich to confirm it, deciding to replace him with Josè Mourinho. 11 years pass and Ranieri returns to coach Leicester in the 2015-2016 season: the coach comes from the unsuccessful experience as coach of Greece, from there a triumphal ride that will lead Leicester to triumph in the Premier League, the first of his history. The following year for Ranieri the exemption will arrive in February, after a season not up to the sensational results obtained the previous year. The third (and so far last) return of Ranieri to the Premier is dated November 2018: a few months on the Fulham bench, during which, however, he fails to pull the team out of a difficult situation in the standings. He will be sacked in February, with Fulham relegating to the Championship at the end of the season.
