A recent history, only six years after the official constitution of the team, but behind the Red Clay of Castellamonte there is half a century of passion: it is since 1971 that, between ups and downs, the “beat and run” has been played, then in 2016 the birth of the rossoviola formation, active more than ever with its three formations.

«This year we have three teams, the Under 12, the Under 14 and the Senior men’s category, which is in Serie C, third in the standings thanks to four wins and three defeats. We won the last game in Turin against Desperados, 18-8 in the eighth inning. We got more than expected with their participation, for the first time, in the Senior category of Serie C – says sporting director Mauro Gaido. – Even the younger boys are achieving good results: there is a great desire to continue to grow and do better and better, especially among the Under 15. This team, in 2019 and 2020, won the Piedmontese championship, reaching the quarterfinals final in the national stages in the first year and third place in these races in the second. For the Under 12s, on the other hand, in addition to the competitive spirit, there is also a good dose of fun ».

Even the little ones can try their hand at the American sport par excellence: «The mini baseball team is not a real team, because at the moment the number of 9 components necessary to make a formation has not been reached, but they have fun and learn the basics. On Saturday 11 June we will participate with them in a tournament dedicated to children, those born between 2013 and 2015 ».

Now that the pandemic seems to be partially overcome, the team has been able to go back to promoting in schools, in Castellamonte and in other areas: “We participated, with our qualified instructor Vittorio Besso, in meetings in various comprehensive institutes as part of the project. of Coni Scuolattiva Junior which promotes alternative sports – continues Gaido. – The result was remarkable, because the membership increased by 7 boys in the Under 15 and by 9 in the Under 12 in just two months and others in mini baseball ». In total there are about sixty members.

The commitment is a lot to make sport and the team known: “We are deeply committed and take part in many initiatives, from sporting initiatives in other municipalities, such as at Castello Malgrà in Rivarolo, to game days in summer camps, in to whom we provide a demonstration of how to play baseball and explain some rules of the game to young people – says the rossoviola manager. – We are happy to give our contribution to other associations or at events and fairs. The feedback we get is always very positive and we see it in the memberships, which have recently exceeded fifty units. For the rest of the time we train on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5pm in the Ghiaro Superiore road field in Castellamonte. The refurbishment of the changing rooms should also begin shortly and we can’t wait ». –
