Riso Scotti Punto Edile has announced the first player under contract for next season: Andrea Calzavara. The construction of the group starts, therefore, from one of the young people cast by the cadetry last year. Play guard of 19 years, 195 cm high per kg. 86, who grew up in the nursery of Robur et Fides Varese where he exploded last season, becoming one of the most interesting young people in group B of Serie B, so much so that he was awarded as the best under 21 of December 2020. In B, Calzavara stands out, who in that month he averaged 16.5 points in 4 games played, with 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists, in 27.5 minutes on the court. For him 3 out of 4 double-digit matches, with a great contribution in Cremona’s away win over Juvi, with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in 32 minutes. Calzavara, in the fourth season in the first team at Robur, has considerably increased his statistics and for this he has become the object of Pavia’s wishes.
A long-followed goal
“I followed Calzavara for a long time – explains general manager Lele Caserio – at the beginning I was told that his engagement would be impossible, because he seemed predestined for Serie A. But as soon as the possibility of being able to sign him opened up, we immediately sank the shot. We are sure that we have brought a player with a rosy future to Pavia and we hope to be able to join us in the top flight one day. It is an important target of our market. His growth last year was stopped by a meniscus injury, which took him away from the rotations of coach Saibene ».
Calzavara was already in Pavia last week and immediately found an agreement with the company. “He is a young man but he played in a quintet in Varese – Caserio continues – he has an incredible determination and desire to work that fascinated coach Di Bella, because he represents the ideal profile of a player to coach”.
