In fact, it was not a manifest superiority that allowed the “old” Djokovic to win the match, but rather the physical hold of the young Spanish star. Alcaraz, given by all as favorite before the match, was betrayed by cramps and probably from a muscle injury in the course of the third set. Djokovic obviously took advantage of it, they snatch the pass for his seventh finale in the Parisian tournament: in case of victory, it would become the most successful ever in the history of Slamovercoming Rafa Nadal.
After a first set won by Djokovic 6-3, in which Alcaraz evidently suffered great tension, the Spaniard managed to immediately restore parity by taking home the second set with a score of 7-5. From then on, however, the Spaniard’s muscles suddenly flexed turned off: Djokovic managed to win with ease both the third and fourth sets (both for 6-1), while Alcaraz was commendable in staying on the court and honoring Roland Garros until the last point, despite clearly being unable to deliver his best tennis. With this victory, Djokovic also regains his second position in the ATP ranking. By winning the tournament, he would also return to the top of the world rankings, undermining Alcaraz himself.
