Roma-Feyenoord, Conference League: clashes with the Dutch, two Albanians injured

With the passing of the hours, the situation of public order in Tirana has become dramatic, where the Conference League final is scheduled for today evening (Wednesday). According to police sources in the Albanian capital, the injured are fifteen, twelve Albanian policemen and three fans. Two Italians suffered head and face injuries. One of the policemen would be in conditions defined as “serious”.

To worry, the excesses of the Feyenoord fans who, thanks to a few too many beers, initially became the protagonists of clashes in the north of the city at the end of which two young Albanians were injured in the head. One seriously, hit by a chair.

The police intervened to calm the minds. The Tirana police announced, with a statement, that the number of Roma and Feyenoord fans stopped. Of these people accompanied to the police station, 48 are of Italian nationality (this number also includes those who were on the bus in which bats, jacks and other blunt objects were found) and 12 Dutch. Clashes are reported in different areas of the center and the local police, in riot gear, are struggling to contain the situation, without being able to avoid close contacts that would have also involved Roma fans. The violence was triggered by a trivial episode when, at the sight of the Feyenoord fans, a local citizen started the “Roma Roma Roma” choir, sparking the reaction of supporters Orange. After a substantially quiet day, tempers heated up at sunset, especially as Dutch fans took over the city center. Clashes a few hundred meters from the government headquarters, in via Mustafa Matohiti, where about 200 Dutch ultras clashed with the police, throwing stones at the agents, two of whom were injured. In Scanderbeg square, in the center of Tirana, a police car was left with shattered glass. Scuffles are also reported in the suburbs, which always see Dutch thugs as protagonists. The Romanists, on the other hand, are far fewer, most of them will arrive only today, and divided between Tirana and Durres. In any case, the police intensified their checks, but after midnight the situation was so worrying that guests of the hotels in the capital were “strongly advised” not to leave the facilities.
