Rowing, European Championships of Varese: the knights of the waters make Italy fly

Two golds, one silver and two bronzes in the Olympic disciplines. Italy’s booty at the Varese Rowing European Championships is very auspicious in view of the Tokyo Olympics. Shine is the paired four of Gentili, Rambaldi, Panizza and Venier. The heirs of the knights of the waters led a perfect final, in the lead from the beginning they kept behind the feared Dutch. The second gold came from the women’s lightweight double with Valentina Rodini and Federica Cesarini. At these European Championships, the light blue boat was the protagonist of a crescendo that pushed it to the important milestone that candidates them for a medal at the Games. It would be the first in the women’s field for Italian rowing. On the second step of the podium ended the two without Lodo and Vicino who could not do anything to the excessive power of the Croatian crew. Finally, the four without (Castaldo, Abagnale, Rosetti and Di Costanzo) and the double lightweights (Oppo and Ruta) for men closed with the bronze.

The lightweight four-pairs (Goretti, Vicino, Rocek and Torre) dominate the competition field of the Schiranna and conquer the gold. On the other hand, the light weight single by Gabriel Soares and the two without light weight by Mantegazza and Fasoli are silver medalists. The blue preceded Poland at the finish line while the gold went to the Hungarian singles player.

Final seventh and eighth place for the double Azzurri. In the women Buttignon and Iseppi dominate their B final while in the men Chiumento and Carucci finished the consolation final behind Ireland. The singles finishers in 10th place: Di Mauro among the male seniors, Noseda in the women’s light weights. The female pair four ends with the 5th place, while the women’s eight comes in 6th place. Fifth instead the men’s flagship.
