Gipo Viani, Delio Rossi and Fabrizio Castori. Since last night they all have something in common: having obtained promotion to Serie A with Salernitana. From the success of 1947 to the victory of 1998 and up to the Lotito-Mezzaroma triumph.

Three coaches, three different stories, but with one passion: the love for sport and for football.

Gipo Viani: Some indicate him as the first coach to introduce the role of the free. What is certain is that he made the most of the invention of Vianema born from an idea of one of his players, Antonio Valese at the time of Salernitana: in this sense he was one of the first – if not the first – coach to introduce the role. of the free in a systematic way. The Vianema was configured as a revision of the system from which the Italian-style bolt later originated. The use of Vianema allowed Salernitana not to disfigure against Serie A teams, in her first year among the big names of Italian football, considered much stronger, managing to obtain precious draws and victories, and only for one point did she not get a salvation which he showed he deserved.

Delio Rossi: Encouraged by the sporting director of Foggia at the time, Giuseppe Pavone, to undertake a career as a coach, he almost immediately obtained the license, starting in 1990 – at the age of 30 – in the regional Promotion championship, training the Apulian of Torremaggiore and then moving on to the leadership of the training Spring of Foggia. In 1993, he goes to coach Salernitana in Serie C1: at the end of the regular season he concludes the Serie C1 group B championship in second place with Reggina and behind Perugia, and gaining access to the play-offs. The 4-0 wins against Lodigiani and 3-0 Juve Stabia allowed Rossi to get promotion to Serie B in his first year as a professional coach. In 1997 he returned to Salerno, and with a cavalcade he won promotion to Serie A. Salernitana managed to set the record for points (up to that time) among the cadets.

Fabrizio Castori: He is the only Italian coach who has climbed all the FIGC championships from the Third Category to Serie A, disputing: 8 C championships, 15 B and 2 A championships. He is the active coach with the most appearances in Serie B, collecting 489 benches to date, and the sixth in the entire history of the cadet series.
His first experience with Salernitana is not exciting. In the 2008-2009 season, in fact, the championship starts in a promising way, with the team stably in the top 7 positions in the standings for the first 11 days. Subsequently, he was sacked on 6 December 2008 after the 3-0 defeat against Livorno, the fourth in a row, leaving the team in 16th place in the standings, just above the relegation zone, after having obtained 2 points in the last 7 games. On January 24, 2009, the company called him back to the bench, taking over the exonerated Bortolo Mutti. On 4 April, following the 2-2 home match against Treviso last in the standings, he was sacked again, after the 33 points obtained in 29 matches between first and second management, and was replaced by Fabio Brini.
On 10 August 2020 his return in the grenade is made official, eleven years after his last experience. In this season with the second final place he manages to bring the Campanians back to Serie A, 23 years after the last time, obtaining the sixth promotion of his career.
