San Marino, in the referendum, the yes to the legalization of abortion won
San Marini, 26 September 2021 – They said yes to the legalization of abortion. And they also did it quite decisively a San Marino where today a referendum for the decriminalization of the termination of pregnancy, still punished with imprisonment in the small Republic.
77.28% (11,119 San Marino citizens) expressed itself to allow abortion within 12 weeks, and in case of malformations of the fetus or risks to the life of the mother, even beyond this term.
Just 22.7% said they were against it (3,265). Ninety-eight blank ballots, 77 void ones. Now the ball goes to politics which will have to produce a bill that incorporates the clear indications given at the polls by the San Marino citizens.
