by admin

200 places available in the half marathon and a hundred in the 10.2 km. The event set for May 2 with departure and arrival at the Merlo stadium

VIGEVANO. Scarpadoro 2021, on 1 April registrations open for both the half marathon and the ten kilometers, which from this year will become competitive (based on the regulations of the national athletics federation). On the other hand, the non-competitive 5 km races will not be held.

The official countdown to the fourteenth edition of the Scarpadoro Half Marathon and StraVigevano, which will take place on Sunday 2 May in Vigevano, therefore, begins, after the 2020 edition has been skipped due to the lockdown; an adverse fate shared by Corripavia, for which essentially half marathons or ten competitive kilometers have not been contested in the province of Pavia for a year and a half.

The organizers of Scarpadoro, after having received the various confirmations and waivers from the athletes registered for the 2020 edition, make available two hundred bibs in the half marathon and one hundred in the 10.2 km, for a total of half a thousand in the 21Km and two hundred in the shortest race.

In case of cancellation of the event due to the further worsening of the pandemic (instead of the expected and desired improvement), the registrations will remain valid for 2022.

Online registration only

«We have decided that you can only register online to keep the situation under control – explains Manuela Merlo – the start after midnight today. We are curious to understand how much expectation there is around the event ».

Departure and arrival

The Half Marathon will start at 9 on 2 May; after a quarter of an hour away at 10,2Km. Departure and arrival, as always, from the “Dante Merlo” municipal stadium. The route, the same in the first 10 km for both races, will wind through the historic center of Vigevano with the suggestive passages to the Castello Sforzesco, Strada Coperta and Piazza Ducale, and then continue in the open countryside and in the Ticino Park, on roads closed to the traffic, with return to the Merlo. The regulation requires athletes to use the mask inside the stadium and in the first three hundred meters of the competition; social distancing within the stadium is also mandatory. There are no sponges, while refreshments with sealed bottles are confirmed; bulk food will not be allowed. It is not allowed to use the changing rooms and showers, but only the toilets. The final refreshment will be delivered at the finish line to each athlete in a bag, together with the participation medal, while the final risotto is not foreseen. Awards on the podium only for the first classified.
