The bianconeri return to the field after the collapse against the rossoneri: only one defeat in the league against the neroverdi and at least two goals scored in the last nine matches

The home defeat against Milan made a lot of noise. For the result (a clear 3-0), but also and above all for the implications in the standings: if the championship ended today, Juventus would be in the Europa League. A difficult scenario to imagine at the beginning of the season, after having dominated in Italy for nine years: the bianconeri have three days to try to get into the top four. The highlight is the match on Saturday 15 May against Inter, but first you have to visit Sassuolo in the midweek round: appointment for Wednesday 12 May at 8.45 pm.

THE MOMENT

The neroverdi will be an opponent that is anything but easy to face for the team coached by Andrea Pirlo. De Zerbi’s men continue to pursue their dream seventh place and mark Roma as a man: only two points of distance between the two teams, thanks to a string of 16 points in the last six days of Sassuolo. No team has done better in this period. The last defeat dates back to 7 April, at the home of Inter then launched towards the Scudetto. At Juve, on the other hand, the thud in the direct clash against Milan came after two complicated matches, with the draw against Fiorentina and the final victory at Udinese. The bianconeri are at 69 points after 35 matches and have only done worse three times since 2004/05, the last in 2010/11 (with seventh place in the standings).

Sassuolo and Juventus have faced each other fifteen times in Serie A. The balance is clearly in favor of the bianconeri: eleven wins, three draws and only one defeat, in October 2015 in the only match without goals against the neroverdi. But De Zerbi’s men have remained unbeaten in two of the last three league matches against the Old Lady, as many times as in the previous twelve games. Despite this, Juve have continued to score consistently against the Emilians: at least two goals in all of the last nine league matches against Sassuolo. The two teams with the highest ball possession in this league face off.
