Ndicka collapses, game abandoned

The game between Udinese Calcio and AS Roma was canceled after ex-Frankfurt player Evan Ndicka collapsed. The 24-year-old Roman collapsed in the 70th minute and clutched his chest, and rescue workers also rushed to the field. Italian media reported that Ndicka may have suffered a heart attack. The defender was carried off the field on a stretcher while giving a thumbs up. His coach Daniele De Rossi followed him into the catacombs and the game was initially interrupted. After the coach returned, there were discussions on the sidelines and after a break of more than ten minutes, referee Luca Pairetto stopped the game when the score was 1-1.

Later in the evening, Roma gave the all-clear. The club posted a photo of Ndicka in her hospital bed on X. “The team visited Ndicka in hospital. Evan is improving and in good spirits. He will remain in hospital for further observation. Forza Evan,” the club wrote.
