CATANIA – The perfect match against the fittest opponent. Catania signs the company with competitive malice and lucidity. The Avellino goes to the mat giving three very heavy points to Massimino. A 3-1 that relaunches the rossazzurri after the deep crisis that led to the change of coach. The new coach Francesco Baldini fielded the 4-3-3 and immediately found an impact with the game different from the others: high pressure on the bearer, aggression in every part of the field. But also cynicism, goals and game with the ball on the ground avoiding long balls. And then, after three minutes, Russotto’s free-kick from the edge, deflected by the barrier, unlocks the match.
Catania repeats again with Russotto at the end of a choral action, finished by an immense Piccolo who on the right after a progression, serves a low cross to his teammate.
Before the rest, the Avellino shortens with D’Angelo for a penalty whistled rightly by the referee for a foul by Martinez coming out on Santaniello. Maldonado’s mistake in lightening is fatal.
