In 2004, Li Dongyu, a weightlifting coach at Ningbo Sports School in Zhejiang Province, returned to his hometown to visit relatives. He fancyed Shi Zhiyong and took him to Ningbo Sports School for training. Because of “too many stones” in the name, coach Li Dongyu changed his name to Shi Zhiyong, which means “both wisdom and courage”.
