Silence, Canzi speaks “Now Olbia only needs serenity”

Serie C. The club finds the word, takes stock and looks ahead “I’m moderately satisfied, Ragatzu will drag us along”

OLBIA. The press blackout ended on the morning of Boxing Day, when the Olbia coach Max Canzi returned to talk to journalists through the screen. Having finished 2021 on the field with a draw in Pistoia and a 10th place in the standings in Group B of Serie C, the coach says he is “on average satisfied” and retraces the last few months. Made of ups and downs, revolutions, protagonists for better or for worse.

Year-end balance sheet. The big theme is the change of form, from 4-3-1-2 to 3-4-1-2 from five games now. «It led us to be more square: in essence we added a defender and removed a midfielder. But the offensive weight remained unchanged. In 5 matches we have conceded 2 goals – highlights Canzi -, we have achieved the goal, because the goal of too many goals conceded was by now the subject of every conference and every technical meeting ». Rather, the attack seems to be harder. The coach from Olbia doesn’t agree too much: «The data tell us that the number of opportunities created has absolutely not decreased. I was much more worried before for the defensive phase than I am now for the offensive one. The attackers often live in waves ». Right now “I am moderately satisfied”, and in fact the ranking reveals a path in line with the playoff ambitions. «We have always traveled above the average of last year, we have 3 points more than last season and having lost more games. But it is also true that we could have won many, yes, just as it is true that others that we could have lost we did not lose ». Canzi argues that Olbia is a team that now has an identity and to continue to do well must recharge with “serenity”. “If you get anxious you won’t go anywhere. Above all, I ask for serenity ».

Names. The coach refuses to talk about the transfer market, but it is clear that some adjustments will be needed, if only because “in the pre-season we designed a team with the club that had to play in a certain way and now play in another way”. A few vacant boxes, especially on the outside midfield, and players to be reviewed (“every change benefits some and disadvantages others”). Giandonato was an immovable pivot and now, thanks to physical problems but also the new midfield, he has fallen in the hierarchy: «In these cases we say that a team that wins cannot be touched, now it is a good machine. He was stopped for a while, he gives his best as a play in a three-man midfield, but I am convinced that even with two, if he is well, he can adapt ». Palesi made little: “he too is penalized now, he can certainly give more but I assure him that he is an amazing guy on his commitment”. Ragatzu thrives on lights and shadows: «He has moments in which he wins games alone and others where he seems to play in ten, luckily they are more first, but that’s normal: he’s a talent. He lives on football, give him a ball and you make him happy, many colleagues think it is difficult to train him and instead it is very easy, he always has a great desire. I’m not worried, the time will come when he will take us by the hand and drag us along ».
