PAVIA

Six days of entertainment and competition at the highest level, six days of international stage under the gaze of fans from all over the world. Now very little is missing from the start of the International Six Days Enduro, for fans simply the Six Days, and the Oltrepo, more precisely the upper Staffora Valley, together with the nearby Val Curone is preparing to welcome what is universally considered as one of the most important events on the world motoring scene.

For the few who still do not know it, the Six Days of Enduro is the oldest off-road motorcycle race in the world, the first edition of which, conceived by a group of London enthusiasts, was held over a century ago, in 1913 in the north of ‘England. In the motorcycle scene it is second in longevity only to another event, always conceived by the volcanic mind of the English motoring pioneers: we are talking about the legendary Tourist Trophy, held since 1907 on the Isle of Man and reserved only for speed bikes. There is something to be proud of, therefore, that eight years after the last appearance in the Bel Paese (in 2013, in Sardinia), the caravan of the Six Days has chosen the Oltrepo for its return to Italy: in this case, the territory of the province of Pavia will not only identify the start of the race, but will also host, at the Rivanazzano Terme airport, the operational headquarters and the paddocks during the event. The 95th edition of the prestigious race, scheduled from 30 August to 4 September, will see 20 national teams at the start (pity for the defections of the strong representatives of Australia and Great Britain), while the Junior Trophy will be 14 formations made up of three drivers Under 23 and 8 teams of the Women Trophy, also made up of three competitors each.

As many as 165 teams registered in the Club Ranking, each made up of three drivers, among which that of the Bergamo-based Club Careter di Nembro stands out, which will see the expert Alessandro Gritti at the start, who, at 74 years old, has not wanted to miss the appointment.

Also worthy of attention is the very local BuscoBros Motorsport team, which will see the three brothers Riccardo, Francesco and Paolo Buscone compete. In total, therefore, there will be just under 650 riders who will compete along the demanding special stages identified by the organizers of the Motoclub Pavia and the Motoclub “Alfieri” of Asti between the provinces of Pavia and Alessandria, with the grand finale on September 4 in the rehearsal show at the Cassano Spinola cross-track. A corollary of the race is also the parade of the “Six Days Adventure”, with maxienduro road bikes that will follow most of the race course.

The audience along the way

The guidelines relating to access to the event have already been defined in compliance with the regulations aimed at containing the health crisis from Covid19. Let’s start with the unquestionably most important issue for enthusiasts who will land in Oltrepo, namely access to the tests: the good news is that no limitations have been foreseen to witness the passage of competitors on the race course, therefore access to special stages will be free. The final MX circuit (originally planned on an artificial circuit created within the “Tazio N uvolari” circuit of Cervesina and, subsequently, relocated to the Cassano Spinola Cross-track) is different. enthusiasts does not currently provide for limitations in the number of accesses, but only holders of the Green Pass will be admitted, which is issued both to those who have completed vaccination prophylaxis and to those who have carried out a molecular swab with negative results, with validity of 48 hours. In this regard, the organization has announced that a collection point for molecular swabs will be operational in the paddock area. However, everyone will be required to use the surgical mask. No limitations, however, for fans up to 12 years. The regulation relating to access to the commercial area of the paddock is identical (Green Pass from vaccine prophylaxis or from a valid negative molecular swab, use of the mask and no limit under 12 years). The technical area of the paddock will be accessible only to drivers and professionals.

Parking in Pavia

On 28 August, from 1pm to 8pm, the former Cattaneo area in viale Nazario Sauro will be reserved for the vehicles of those who will attend the inauguration ceremony of the Isde, in the courtyard of the Visconteo castle. For this reason, no parking signs with forced removal will be placed in the area. An ordinance of the Traffic Office establishes that “to guarantee an orderly and organized inflow and outflow of private vehicles used by the parties involved in the event”, a parking ban should be imposed on those who will not have to deal with the event.

The inauguration of the Six days of enduro will take place in the courtyard of the castle, in the presence of the athletes, the companions and the authorities. Therefore, the public will not be admitted. The area has been granted free of charge to the organizers of the sporting event and the Municipality of Pavia has granted an onerous patronage of 20 thousand euros.
