Lake Louise (Canada), December 3, 2021 – The season of speed begins in the sign of Sofia Goggia: dominant from the first to the last sector, never really within anyone’s reach. TO Lake Louise the first fast race of the year was staged, after the first weeks of opening had given way to slalom, giant and the parallel of Lech without too much satisfaction for the blue colors. But today an acute came immediately, certainly expected, but not in these proportions.
The race
Sofia Goggia, back from the ugly injury last January, she started with bib number 5 and dictated the law from the very first doors: her domination was evident to the point that despite some risks taken, she managed to earn significantly on the American Johnson, who at the finish line took 1.64 of posting. But in the huge hole that has built between her and Johnson in the end no other athlete has entered, perfect emblem of the superiority of Goggia on this day when the other big names had to give up. Suter, the main downhill rival, is not yet in top form and has come a long way away, while Siebenhofer, Gut Behrami and the other descents afterwards have paid for important gaps since the first doors. Well instead Mirjam Puchner who completed the podium with an absolute level race, characterized by her usual competitiveness on the planes that allowed her to close within 2 seconds of gap.
The other Italians
Not only Goggia among the good news for Italy: splendid test of the sisters Delago: Nadia closed in sixth position with a delay of 2.09, confirming the good things seen last season, while Nicol, on his return after a long injury, he achieved a very important result closing in the top ten at 2.16 from the head, a few cents behind his sister, with excellent sensations for the rest of the season where he will certainly often fight for the podium. Federica Brignone out of the Top 10 with 2.41 late, Elena Curtoni a 3.25, Francesca Marsaglia more behind at 4.14.
