SASSARI. The full text of the note sent yesterday by the Fip on the Spissu case. «Following the press release issued by the Spanish club Baloncesto Malaga regarding the physical conditions of the player Marco Spissu and the consequent news spread in the press on this issue, the Italian Basketball Federation and the athlete himself specify the following.

To participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Spissu, like all the other athletes of the Italian delegation, obtained a certificate of fitness for competitive sporting practice issued by the Coni Institute of Sports Medicine, the highest entity in the sector as regards Olympic athletes and more. From this certificate, issued following in-depth examinations carried out before leaving for Japan, it is clear that the athlete was completely healed from the injury he suffered during the Hamburg tournament about two weeks earlier. In this regard, it is emphasized that what was found by the medical staff of Malaga, later confirmed by the Azzurro medical staff, has no causal relationship with the trauma suffered by the athlete in Germany. As specified, therefore, and following all the investigations carried out during the summer, the Fip considers the athlete Marco Spissu suitable for competitive sports.
