Jon Kent-Superman and Jay Nakamura in the November issue

Los Angeles, October 12, 2021 – Jon Kent, the new Superman, will come out: is bisexual. The DC Comics, the American comic book publisher, announced that in the next issue, ‘Son of Kal-E‘due out in November, readers will see Jon, the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, fall in love with Jay Nakamura, a journalist with pink hair already his friend and companion in adventures.

The news came on the occasion of the National Coming Out Day, the annual rights awareness day LGBTQ + in the United States, and fits into an extremely topical twist in the story of Superman. The series with Jon Kent opened in July and the superhero has already been seen fighting for causes like the climate change, school shootings and the question of push-back of refugees: all hot topics in Use and beyond.

In the first images released by DC, Jon and Jay share a kiss. According to the story that the writer of the comic Tom Taylor did it to the BBC, it was the publishing house itself that proposed the ‘gender breakthrough‘. “There will always be people who will use the usual argument of not putting politics in comics – commented Taylor – forgetting that every single story has always been political somehow”.
