It seems the miracle of this Italian summer, which made it “normal” an otherwise exceptional fact for us so used to politicians who only take swear words in talks, but it is only the result of the ability of the organizers of the CL meeting to bring different people together under the same roof, and perhaps also of the will of the political forces to re-tie the thread of a dialogue that the contingency of politics and an electoral campaign at the gates always make difficult.

Thus the extraordinary encounter a Rimini which, for the first time since who knows when it ranks all the party leaders together, resembles a sort of peace conference, a Versailles of Italian politics on the Romagna waterfront. A table of veterans who fought each other and who, at a certain point, decide that perhaps it will also be appropriate to speak without insulting each other. Only Matteo Renzi was missing, but almost no one has noticed it, and those who have noticed it have remembered that after all the leader of Italia viva is a one man show and, as a good showman, agrees to share the stage only with former mayors of Florence that we have also made the Prime Minister. Go on.

Thus, beyond words, the Meeting tableau (relive the live video here) introduced by Giorgio Vittadini, president of the Foundation for Subsidiarity, and moderated by the director of the QN and of the Resto del Carlino, Michele Brambilla, saw the dialogue as the protagonist and revealed to the CL people who flocked in large numbers (but also to those who followed the event both in streaming and in live TV on SkyTg) that after all the politics he also knows how to find the strength of a confrontation.

Of course, the differences remain because the common cohabitation under the same Draghian insignia (Meloni and part) does not cancel the specificities of each one, but at least we can talk about it. After all, there are those who also want to dialogue with the Taliban, it will also be possible to discuss with the political forces that are part of the same majority or the same coalition.

Each reaffirmed their positions on current affairs, but it was not the sterile recitation of prepackaged utterances. The audience welcomed everyone with cordiality, even if the usual applausometer Giorgia Meloni prevailed, although connected from a distance (the only one, the others were all present) followed by Matteo Salvini and the hosts Giorgio Vittadini and Maurizio Lupi, CL and president of the Solidarity intergroup, and Antoni Tajani.

Good reception in any case also for Enrico Letta, who has always had positive relations with the Meeting (“You have always invited me, even when I was not in positions of responsibility”, acknowledged the secretary dem) and after all also for Giuseppe Conte, here as leader of a movement that with the galaxy ciellina has never shown too much closeness.

Then of course Diversity also emerged, and in some passages also the harshness. Salvini began by distributing blows above all to president Cinquestelle, with whom there was evidently some account to settle. “Politics must be done by trained people, not by people who are essentially drawn by lot”. Out one. “On September 15 I will be in Sicily at a trial because as Interior Minister I defended Italy”. Out two. “The citizenship income was a big mistake”. Out of three. “Italy is a republic in the hands of the judges”. Four. Always looking in the direction of Conte, who instead averted his eyes.

Attacks also from Meloni in Letta (“now the Democratic Party is asking for preferences but in parliament we only voted for them”), of Tajani towards Letta (“it is useless to talk about the law against relocations, let’s ask ourselves why they go away: perhaps too many taxes, too much bureaucracy”), of Letta towards Meloni and Salvini (“no ambiguity on green passes and vaccines“). This too is back to “normality”.
