CASTELNUOVO WRITES

Exactly one week after the playoffs were released by Udine, Autosped Castelnuovo Scrivia looks to the new season of Serie A2.

And it does it with the classic bang. In the past few hours, the club announced that it has reached an agreement with coach Nino Molino, from Messina, 62, one of the most successful and well-prepared coaches on the national women’s basketball scene, as evidenced by his palmares: two championships (Taranto 2002/2003, Napoli 2006/2007) and two Italian Super Cups (Taranto 2003, Napoli 2007), an Italian Cup, again with Taranto in 2003, and three promotions from A2 to A1, the last in 2013 with Passalacqua Ragusa, with whom in the following season still reaches the final championship, this time defeated by Famila Schio. But in addition to the victories obtained with the clubs Molino can also boast excellent results with the national team; both the senior one, of which he was an assistant, and the under 20 female one, which he led, as head coach for 8 years, obtaining a silver medal and a bronze medal at the European championships.

The coach from Messina enthusiastically married the project submitted to him by GM Alice Pedrazzi and by the sporting director Franco Balduzzi who, in harmony with the managing director of Bertram Tortona Ferencz Bartocci, focused on the Sicilian coach; and the fact that it is not the top flight was not an impediment either. The appointment of the coach is the basis for the construction of the new team, which promises to be competitive and ready to play a leading role in the next A2 series, with the aim of trying to achieve promotion. The one made available to the new coach will be a top-level roster. Among the confirmations there could be Ashley Ravelli, Valentina Bonasia and Giulia Rulli. In the meantime, the Serie A2 championship continues. After Udine, which had eliminated Autosped, the second finalist for the promotion is Crema who in Game 3 beat Sanga Milano 87-56, closing the series 2-1. The Cremasche will have the home factor in the final. As for the relegation zone, Vicenza’s important success on the Treviso field 48-59 in game 1 of the second play-out round. The Vicenza are one step away from salvation, while the Treviso ones see the specter of Serie B. –
