by admin

Tokyo, Japan, the most difficult, desired, opposed, controversial, desired Olympics. Here it is, the sacred flame of Olympia, which returns to the streets of Tokyo after the evocative and exciting edition of 1964. And that glow tries to illuminate a world dragged by the pandemic into one of the deepest abysses. A darkness that has swallowed up the very meaning of the Games, of these Japanese Games. So ‘Tokyo Story’ it is primarily an act of love: towards sport, those five Olympic circles, a country that is a beating heart of world sport and its capital, an emblematic place and catalyst for the sporting passion of each of us. Through dozens of stories ranging from the origins of Japanese sport, to the great moments of sport experienced in the Land of the Rising Sun also and above all by champions and Italian champions, Dario Ricci makes us rediscover protagonists, names, dates, legendary moments of international sport and who have found their cradle and ideal scenario in Tokyo and Japan

“My Japan is the living room sofa at the beginning of a Sunday in late October. Outside it is still night and it pours over the Po valley. It also rains inside the television, perhaps with the first colors. It pours at the foot of the volcano, the Fuji has an inexorable black hat. It is 1976 and what happened in that Grand Prix has become a subject for literature and cinema ……. These are just a few fragments to try to make you understand how intense and irresistible this oriental music is that the friend Dario Ricci sounds so good in words in the book ……. which is the indispensable premise, the necessary travel companion to go towards the most difficult and desired Olympics perhaps in history. Reading these stories, which have often become a legend, is a kind of spiritual journey towards Tokyo 2020 that rekindles our light in 2021. If this is not the magic of the East…. ” From the preface signed by Carlo Genta, host of Tutti Convocati on Radio 24
