Tennis in Tokyo 2020, Berrettini misses the Olympics due to injury

by admin

Matteo Berrettini raises the white flag. The blue tennis player has to renounce participation in the Olympic Games, due to the after-effects of a muscle injury, an unwelcome legacy of the historic exploit in the Wimbledon tournament, which allowed him to become the first Italian ever to compete in the final of the prestigious London tournament. The player is struggling with a “muscle strain and must rest 15 days”.

Berrettini was one of the seven qualified blues, together with Fognini, Sonego, Musetti in the men and Errani, Paolini and Giorgi in the women

The Italia Team delegation thus amounts to 384 athletes (198 men, 187 women): after July 16, in fact, the ITF does not allow substitutions with respect to the list of athletes indicated by the Olympic Committees.
