On June 25, the kick-off ceremony of the darts, chess and dryland curling events of the 11th Shandong Disabled Games was held at the Rizhao High-tech Culture and Sports Center. Zhang Wentao, member of the Provincial Disabled Persons’ Federation Party Group and Vice Chairman, and leaders of Rizhao City, Wang Xinsheng, Lin Yanqin, and Meng Fanxiang attended the event.

The darts, chess, and dryland curling events are the first batch of competitions in this Provincial Paralympic Games. They are hosted by the Shandong Provincial People’s Government, undertaken by the Rizhao Municipal People’s Government, and co-organized by the Management Committee of the Rizhao High-tech Industrial Development Zone. The competition period is June 25. From April to 27th, more than 230 disabled athletes from 16 teams across the province participated, and 27 gold medals will be produced.

As a comprehensive sports event for the disabled with the highest standard, largest scale, highest level of competition, and the strongest radiation driving effect in the province, the 11th Provincial Games for the Disabled has set up 14 competitive events and 3 group events, with 1,500 participating athletes. More than 700 gold medals will be produced. Rizhao City has selected more than 200 athletes to participate in the competition, which is the first time to achieve full coverage of the provincial Paralympic Games.

Since receiving the flag in 2018, the Rizhao Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government have adhered to the concept of “two events, equally exciting”, adhered to the simultaneous planning and preparation of the Provincial Games and the Provincial Paralympic Games, and innovatively implemented the “two games” preparatory committee. The operation mode of “one team, one mechanism, and integrated preparation” will work together to create a successful example of the integration of the two events. Rizhao City will create a good competition environment for the participating athletes with first-class venue facilities, first-class service level and first-class organizational guarantee, and make every effort to ensure the smooth progress of various competitions.
