CAGLIARI. The ninth edition of the Sardinia Mountain Bike Rally, scheduled from 30 May to 4 June on the dirt roads between Barbagia and Ogliastra, has been postponed. This was announced today April 27 by the organizers of the event due to the pandemic.

“We have received the communication of the sudden surge of infections in one of the countries, a crucial stage of the race, a rain of renunciations – explain from GLEsport – due to the cancellation of flights of most of the foreign athletes and widespread uncertainty on the part of the operators. involved in the event no longer fully convinced that they can support us. We therefore had to reach the bitter but inevitable decision to postpone this edition of the Rally di Sardegna. The first act of this adventure ends, however, our promise is to re-launch the new dates shortly, in a period that we hope will be more peaceful for everyone ».

«We had thought – continue the organizers – to give you a unique edition by working without sparing ourselves for months, with our heads down, with the exclusive desire to offer you an unforgettable edition. An event with the presence of the world champion Leo Paez, together with some of the strongest teams in the mountain bike scene. We had prepared all the necessary measures, we were perfectly organized and we would have respected all the procedures envisaged in the matter of the pandemic ». (HANDLE).
